Lapis--a shade of purple

The bridesmaids gown were Lapis-for some reason I always think that is going to be blue, but in bridal wear it is shades of purple.

Here we paired it with all shades of purple and accented with green. I love the striped ties on the groomsmen--I love cool ties!

Something old....and a memory

We are so excited when we open our inbox and we have photos! Another gorgeous purple wedding from this summer.. and a reminder how small our big old world really is... the brides mom came in months before this event to get the planning going (bride lives in Russia).

Mentioned the ceremony would be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church--we talked about the church and its school, back in the day, I (and my brothers) attended a small Lutheran school of which I have very fond memories. As the conversation progressed,we came to the conclusion that this brides great grandfather was my first grade teacher! It brought tears to us all, considering my school only had about 50 students-this was indeed a chance meeting. It was a great pleasure to design these wedding flowers! The ribbon rosette on the brides bouquet was made from her moms wedding dress-one of my new favorite ideas.

The ceremony--Redeemer Lutheran Church-the bride and groom met serving ministries in Russia.

Designer's Favorite

One of our all time favorite bridal bouquets from the summer-

modern, dramatic and a perfect complement to a gorgeous gown.

Perfect long stem calla lilies collared with dark green ti leaves-carried with attitude.

I love the long lines of the bouquet against the rouching of the gown--thanks Liz for trusting me with the idea!

Our new look!

Wedding trend forecast 2010/2011

Last week as I was talking with the The Knot guru (Erin) about what to display for their Good Day Austin segment,

they had just finished running "flower week" over at their website and she wanted to highlight 5 emerging trends.

All white bridal bouquets, loose and textured bouquets (think vintage-y), fabric covered containers, low centerpieces with multiple components:)--we chose a collection of milkglass hobnail and vintage apothecary bottles

and the last one that we discussed but did not feature--black accents.

I just saw a preview of Vera Wang bridal line and guess what? a few black sashes appearing on the dresses.

I loved the classic look of black and white--

These beautiful black glass containers live in our inventory--gorgeous, modern and elegant!

Raspberry at Horseshoe Bay

An explosion of hot pink on the lawn at The Horseshoe Bay Marriott Lawn-

complete with a "D" of hot pink petals--

Not too many palm trees in Central Texas-- so makes for a fun photo op!

A gorgeous bouquet of raspberry pink peonies--the exact shade of the bridesmaids dresses and a cowboy as an accessorie!

Summer chuppah--Four Seasons

I just received these images a few weeks ago from a wedding we designed last summer--

we are always happy for an indoor event in the brutal Texas heat.

I loved the soft pastel colors of this event accented with a touch of dark chocolate brown.

Cori and Daniel--

A small world, 12ish or more years ago Daniel was one of our first employees at our pizza place, his sister became an acquaintance from the wedding industry and literally by chance Cori contacted us about wedding flowers.

Who knew?

The entire "stage" and stairs were covered for a very clean, simple ceremony area.

Centerpieces.

One of the benefits of "flipping" a ceremony space into a reception space--the centerpieces can double duty as aisle decor.

This is one of the times that repurposing arrangements can work-- remember there is additional labor involved in this transition but it certainly can be worth it.

Summer pastels

Escort card table display--shades of whites/ivorys and soft blues with pop of lavender-- so cool for a hot summer evening.

Table for two.

The ceremony set and ready--I loved the draping and lighting behind the chuppah--adds just the right amount of drama.

The low centerpiece--the reception featured both tall ( from the aisle decor) and low centerpieces ( used at the rehearsal dinner the evening before.) Both good ways to repurpose the flowers and arrangements.
