Yellow and green

More yellow and green combos-- I loved this bridal bouquet from last spring- mostly white with a touch of soft yellow and green-- our bride loved alot of small flowers put together--so fresh!

Lemon,limes and forsythia--

These table centerpieces were simple but effective-- submerged gerbera daisy with the lemon and limes and then the yellow tulips placed around for a finishing touch!

An  adorable flower girl with halo--this young lady was the epitome of a flower girl--she embraced her duties seriously!

Yellow!

As the fall wedding season is beginning to wind down, I find myself meeting with brides about their upcoming spring and summer weddings.  One thing I am hearing--yellow!
I designed this wedding a few years ago-- our bride loved yellow and knew that she would carry yellow roses!

The bridesmaids wore red dresses and carried a variety of yellow flowers- gerbera daisy, lily, freesia, spray roses and stock.

The centerpieces carried out the yellow theme--lemons!  This smelled so summery, it was really unexpected!

And a whimisical cake to pull it all together!

Austin wedding flowers: Laguna Gloria

I am once again organizing photos and came across the pro pics from this spring wedding at Laguna Gloria.  I loved the crystal initials we placed on each bridesmaids bouquet.

An absolutley beautiful couple--her white bouquet featured peony, freesia, sweet peas-- I love all white with this gorgeous lace gown. Nothing to distract fromthe beauty of this bride.

The tent featured 17 long tables for family style serving-- it was a challenge to get the flowers, candles and chargers all in the perfect placement!
Thanks to Vanessa for the gorgeous photos!
Thanks to Barbara for another beautiful event.

Here are the pro pics from a wedding earlier this summer--
This bouquet was an explosion of vivid colors, fuschia, purple and hot pinks!

A well put together bridal party--remember, this was an outdoor summer event--no jackets for the guys!
I love the color in their shirts and jackets!

A simple, gorgeous portrait.

And then the cake--also full of color!

Flower girls

These young ladies  were absolutely precious in one of our recent weddings.
The young one became intrigued with the colorful paper and boxes.

Usually the boxes are filled with bouquets, in this case it was 2 boxes for 10 bridesmaids bouquets!

Or they can be filled with adorable flower girls.

Friday favorites!

Here is  one of my favorite weddings from last fall--a deep purple accented with  alot of green flowers and a few purple ones too!

This flower girl was the cutest-- she loved being a flower girl with a halo and a pomander! The bride a had a love of pearls-- we placed cascading pearls on her bridal bouquet.

Spring favorite

As I was looking at the blog over at
Hemernyx photography I came across this spring wedding that I designed last spring.
This is such a cute cake--we provided all the ranunucla buds and blooms and they were placed by the baker--I love the finished presentation.

This is the ceremony area over at Nature's Point-- just a few pomanders on the chairs to complement this hot pink and green color combo.

And look at these cute bridesmaids dresses-- the green flowers were a perfect accent--the dresses were ruffley, sparkley and springy all at the same time!

Recent fall weddings

This was a sweet simple bouquet I designed for a bride recently.  She provided a very specific photo that we recreated--we added the blue ribbon for the "something blue".

I always love the look of the miniature gerbera daisy as a bouttoniere-- the miniature varieties, they come in almost as many colors as the standard varieties.

What a great classic photo--these photos were provided by
Melissa at Hemeranyx photography.

The ceremony took place on the porch at the Allan House--one of the popular downtown Austin locations.

Elegant fall

I am absolutely loving the gorgeous fall weather that has finally arrived here in Austin, Tx.
These bouquets were designed for our bride on this past Friday night, what a glorious evening-I know she was relieved to have the weather cooperate.  Her bouquet featured some of our favorite fall elements- miniature mango calla lilies, orange mokara orchids, leondis and milva roses accented with brown hypericum berries.

The 3 bridesmaids carried simple, elegant bouquets of the mango miniature calla lilies--they were French braided with a copper ribbon to coordinate with the mocha gowns with copper sashes.

The bouquet in the bottom of the frame belongs to the maid of honor- she had a bouquet similar to the bride just a bit smaller. This was an outdoor ceremony and reception on a beautiful fall evening!

To hire or not to hire a wedding planner??

All the photos in this post are collaborations between  many vendors and they all include the guidance of a wedding planner/coordinator/consultant.   We always inquire if you will be using the services of a planner--many times we are asked why do we want to know?  I have recently had a couple of experiences that I wished there had been a planner not only on the day of but in the planning process. One bride made it to her reception for less than 2.5 hours--the inexperience of not having a well planned ceremony and photographer made them hurry through the reception and knowing the minimums that were required, it could not have been a cost effective reception time.  Most recently with the rainy weekends we have faced a few challenges-moving ceremony locations, changing seating arrangements and who is in charge? and making these decisions?  With a job at hand and limited time, we need the decisions to be made either before it becomes an issue or at least have a plan B.  Ultimately, you have to make the decision based on your event. Most planners strive to help you create a beautiful, stress free, cost effective event.

Blast from the past!

I designed this wedding --maybe 4 or 5 years ago? The flowers were all shades of bright pink and fuschia--we worked with Barbara at barbarasbrides.com.

One of my favorite cakes of all time-- colorful, whimisical and perfect for this event.

Green in the fall?

Speaking of budgets-- I met with this gorgeous bride a few weeks prior to her wedding-- we discussed all the "must have" elements - during the consultation, she very honestly let me know what she could afford.
As you can see by the photos, she got gorgeous flowers (even including some of her "must haves") and let the design staff come up with the best look for her. Her must haves included variegated lily grass, cymbidium orchids, and herbs.  I love the hair flowers for the bridesmaids.

Thanks for letting us  do our job!  These photos were generously provided by Britany Dawson photography.
